DevCon Cloud Camp

For the first time DevCon (Developers Connect) conducted it first cloud camp here in Davao City. It was held last December 4, 2010 at Draft Pick Sports Bar and Grill, The Site. Its presenters where Amazon EC2 plus mCloud and Microsoft Windows Azure. 

The Fire Sale

Fire Sale, I first heard this term in the movie Die Hard 4.0 starring Bruce Willis, Justin Long and many others, where a hacker, played by Timothy Olyphant, who was once the chief programmer of the Department of Defense of The United States of America launches a fire sale over the national infrastructure of America. Fire Sale originally means the sale of goods at extremely discounted prices indicating bankruptcy or in professional sports it means the trading of players, especially the veterans, to another team in exchange of younger players.

ICEAN Festival 2009

These are the shirt designs of the designated teams for the ICEAN festival 2009. Green Nemesis for the 2nd - 4th year and above IT students, Pink Dragonfly for the 1st year IT and CS students and last but not the least, Yellow Minix for the 2nd - 4th year and above CS students. The ICEAN festival will be held this coming September (I forgot the date though) and I'll be wearing Green Nemesis. It's the first time that our batch will be wearing green because it has always been red, anyway I'm looking forward on enjoying this upcoming event and I hope that all of the Institute of Computing students will participate in the events and ofcourse I hope all will have fun. By the way the designer of the shirt is John David de Peralta who is a former IT student of the Institute of Computing.

In-House or Outsource. Which Is Better?

In-house and Outsource, I first encountered these words back when I was in high school during my economics subject but I didn’t really delved into it until I re encountered it in one of my subject. There have been many discussions regarding the issue of in-housing and outsourcing. Which is better? In-house or outsource?

Hacking: Ethical or Unethical

Hacking is the act of exploring and manipulating the works of another computer or other technological device or system, either for the purpose of understanding how it works or to gain unauthorized access. Hacking is the unauthorized use of computer and network resources and a fraudulent act that is illegal in some ways and helpful in others. The term “hacker” originally meant a very gifted programmer. However, in the recent years the term hacker turned out into something bad and now has a negative implication. It’s troublesome to know that when other people hear the work hacker or hacking it seems that the first thing that pops up out of their minds is that it’s “illegal”.
